Hi there! Today I’d like to share some YouTube videos with you about color. Have you ever really thought about colors? Whether we all experience them the same way? Whether the blue that you see is the same blue that I see? Follow me down the Color Rabbit Hole that I fell into!
Let’s start here … with this 4 minute video. It explains how our eyes “see” colors.
(But, for the record, I do NOT agree that birds are creepy!)
- Were you able to spot the one green square that was different?
- Before he said the answer?
- Have you ever paid attention to the color of the light at different times of day?
That video led me to this next video … a bit longer … around 10 minutes (but it’s mainly the first 5:10 that are about color). It gets a little bit theoretical and will really bend your brain – about how color is an illusion. Isn’t that amazing? That we “create” colors inside our heads? And, if color is an illusion – that means that visual artists are illusionists! Double cool!
I love the way Vsauce ends his video – stay curious!
- Have you ever known anyone with color blindness?
- Or who was completely blind?
- Have you ever tried to describe color to someone who can’t see them and never has?
The second video led me to this third video (2:40) by Tommy Edison, which really blows my mind, because I am sooooooo color oriented. I live color. I breathe color. I color code things. I spend a lot, lot, LOT of time thinking about color. I so appreciate Tommy Edison sharing his experience of “color” from his point of view as a person who is blind.
O*M*G! It totally blows my mind to imagine what it might be like to NOT have experienced color! As a visual artist, I am soooo visually oriented and I adore color. May I never NOT be able to see colors!
What artsy rabbit holes have you fallen into lately?
Do you adore color too?
Please leave me a comment and tell me all about it! I love hearing from you! ♥
And stay curious!
