Work in Progress

Work in Progress by Anne Gaal of http://gaalcreative.com

Hello! As 2013 draws to a close and 2014 is about to begin, I am reflecting on what a work-in-progress I am. I’ve been enjoying looking back at where I’ve been, truly savoring the experience of where I am right now, and looking forward to where I want to go next.

I haven’t had much time for art lately, since I have been studying coaching and devoting a lot of time to my studies. I just started this circular canvas and I am so excited by it.

It is 30 inches across – almost as large as a dining table! I love how the edges curve, too. It is soooo cool that it nearly makes me drool!

I am putting a Sri Yantra design on it. The Sri Yantra represents dualities, like the masculine and the feminine, the heavenly and the earthly, the spiritual and the material, the mental and the physical, and so on.

I’ve always liked geometric designs. And I’m finding that the pattern reminds me a bit of the quilts that my grandmother used to make. I’m so glad that I started this piece!

What about you? What are you working on?

I’d love to hear about your works-in-progress … whether it is something you’re studying (like me!) or your artwork or anything under the sun. What are you excited about? What are you doing that makes you so happy you almost want to drool?

Your canvas is beautiful Anne. I thought it was a table top. Your precision is perfect. I love to work on mixed media, but I never seem to get around to it. Currently, I found a renewed love for inchies.

Gorgeous. Looks like leather that you could melt into. I didn’t realize how large it was. It’s going to keep you busy, good busy.

I found I love stamping and COLORING. I joined a COPIC marker group at my LSS once a month where we chat, color, and generally have a ball. Hugs, dear friend.

    Happy New Year Anne!

What a cool piece! It does look like leather. At first glance, it reminded me of a game board. Chinese Checkers!

Hmmm, haven’t decided on my next bit of fun work … maybe it will be the fingerless mittens I started last month but didn’t finish?
